Charity appeal for 9 year old boy Simbarashe Dande second attempt surgery

(Isstories Editorial):- West Midlands, United Kingdom May 10, 2024 (Issuewire.com) – Dear well wishers and donors we are kindly asking for your help for Simbarashe to have a second attempt surgery.

His Go fund Me page is at https://gofund.me/a499dec8

We started the charity appeal in 2019 when he was 4 years old. Simbarashe is now 9 years old.

More on Isstories:

He was diagnosed with maxillofacial osteosarcoma around 2017. He presents with a huge tumour involving the entire maxilla, obliteration of the right lateral nasal wall.

The boy from Murehwa, Zimbabwe, grapples with the tumour that has engulfed his mouth and nostril, leaving him in constant agony.

His father, Thompson passed away in 2019, shortly after Simbarashe ‘s first surgery in South Africa aimed at combating the aggressive tumour.

Simbarashe’s mother, Maria, struggles to make ends meet as she tends to her son’s complex medical needs.

The relentless growth of the tumour has distorted Simbarashe’s face, nose, and eye, hindering his ability to speak, eat well and breathe.

In 2019 when he had his first ablative surgery in South Africa when part of the tumour was removed, he improved a bit. Since then the tumour keeps growing as he grows. The second surgery to remove the other part failed due to reconstructive limitations and poor prognosis in obtaining clear resection margins following a medical error during the first surgery.

He was initiated chemotherapy from 01/04/2019 – 11/07/2019 and completed 7 cycles of chemotherapy without any significant shrinkage of the tumour mass.MRI still confirmed a locally aggressive tumour mass of the right maxilla with upper airway obstruction.

He currently uses a tracheostomy which was inserted on 28/02/2019 for breathing.

Despite the removal of a portion of the tumour, the operation proved unsuccessful. He therefore needs second surgery.

He currently relies on the long term tracheostomy which aids him in breathing.

We are urgently seeking financial assistance to fund Simbarashe’s second surgery, preferably in a developed nation or any facility capable of providing the necessary medical care.

May you please find it in your heart to help through his Go fund me page.
