Beyond Fear To Freedom (BFF), a faith-based organization dedicated to helping individuals overcome trauma, life struggles and generational patterns, and live fulfilling lives aligned with God’s purpose, today announced the retirement of its beloved CEO, Debbie, and the appointment of Susan Connelly Wright as her successor. The transition will take effect immediately following a well-planned leadership transition process.

Debbie, who has been with BFF since its founding in 2014, has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s mission, values, and impact. Her leadership and unwavering faith have touched countless lives, and her legacy will forever be a part of BFF’s history. Debbie’s decision to retire comes after a challenging year marked by her recovery from an accident and concussion, the ever-growing needs of her husband Dennis and the loss of her father. She and Dennis, a stroke survivor whom she serves as a full-time caregiver, plan to spend more quality time together and family in retirement.

“It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve as the CEO of Beyond Fear To Freedom,” said Debbie. “I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such amazing individuals and to have witnessed the transformative power of God’s love in so many lives. While stepping down is bittersweet, I am confident that Susan is the right person to lead BFF into its next chapter.”

Susan, a born-again Christian with a powerful testimony of overcoming addiction, has been selected by the Board as Debbie’s successor. Susan has held various leadership roles over the past 5 years and has a deep understanding of the struggles faced by those BFF serves. Her vision for bridging the recovery community with discipleship efforts aligns perfectly with BFF’s mission and values.

To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Debbie and Susan will continue to work closely together over the coming months. Debbie and Susan have been working together for the past several months preparing for this announcement and Debbie will continue to support and guide Susan during this onboarding process through 2024. The Board and leadership team will provide support and guidance throughout the process.

BFF will celebrate Debbie’s legacy and introduce Susan’s vision at its annual fundraiser in October 2024. The event will feature the inspiring story of Debbie and Dennis’s journey, highlighting their resilience, faith, and love in the face of adversity.
